Customization
Four ways to make it your product
Logo, firmware, housing and full OEM run on different schedules and different minimum quantities. Mixing them up is the main reason a customization project slips.
| Path | What changes | Verification needed |
|---|---|---|
| Logo & packaging | Silkscreen, label, carton, manual language | First-article check; no electronics change |
| Firmware / UI | Hotkeys, startup behaviour, EDID tables, control protocol | Sample test against your hosts and displays |
| Housing / structure | Front panel, port layout, mounting ears, colour | Mechanical sample, then fit check in your rack |
| Full OEM | Board, enclosure, firmware, packaging, documentation | Prototype, pilot batch, then mass production |
Minimum quantity, sampling time and tooling cost depend on the model and how deep the change goes. They are confirmed per project — we do not publish a single number that would be wrong for half of them.
Five steps from idea to batch
Same sequence for a label change and for a new board. Only the duration differs.
- 1 · Requirement — which model, what should change, which market it ships to, and the quantity you expect in the first year.
- 2 · Feasibility — we say which path your change actually needs, and which one it does not. This is where most budget is saved.
- 3 · Sample — a modified sample with a written checklist so your team tests the same points we did.
- 4 · Pilot batch — small run to catch packaging, labelling and test-fixture issues before volume.
- 5 · Production — burn-in and full inspection, reports by model, packing per your channel requirements.
What we can decide quickly
- Whether your housing change needs a new tool or a modified panel
- Which firmware behaviours are configurable and which are fixed
- Which certification report your destination market expects
- Whether a mixed order of several families can ship together
What we need from you
- Artwork files, or a clear description of the change
- The host and display models the product must work with
- Destination market and sales channel (retail, project, distribution)
- Expected first-year volume, even if approximate
- Whether the design must stay exclusive to your brand
Customization questions
Which customization path is fastest?
Logo and packaging. It changes artwork, labels and cartons and leaves the electronics untouched, so it needs no new verification cycle beyond a first-article check.
Do we have to open a new tool for a custom housing?
Only if the shape actually changes. Many requests are satisfied by a modified front panel or a new silkscreen on an existing enclosure; we tell you which one your design needs before quoting tooling.
Can firmware be customized without changing the hardware?
Yes. Hotkey layout, startup behaviour, EDID tables, default resolution and the control protocol can usually be changed in firmware, which keeps the board and the certification path unchanged.
Who owns the tooling and the firmware build?
Ownership and exclusivity are agreed in writing before the project starts. Tell us at inquiry stage whether you need the design kept exclusive to your brand.
Send the change you have in mind
A model name plus a photo or sketch is enough for a first answer on feasibility and schedule.
